Power outage across the state on Saturday, storms caused issues for residents
Bloomington, Indiana – Friday overnight storm across the state caused many issues for thousands of Hoosiers in the morning hours on Saturday. Many of them woke up without power as a result of the heavy storms.
At least one tornado reported in Jay County, flash flooding and wind gusts resulted with power outage in many Indiana counties.
According to the latest data, at least 50,000 people were without power at one point during the night on Friday and early morning hours on Saturday. At least 30,000 of them were still without power Saturday noon.
Officials say Brown, Owen and Monroe counties were the most hit during the storms. Reportedly, there was flooding in multiple locations, reaching up to two feet in some areas.
Tens of vehicles and homes were reported damaged as a result of golfball-sized hail. The wind gusts toppled trees and powerlines.
By the end of the day, there was power in almost all areas. Damages are still being reported across the most hit areas.
